Compare Baseball to Cricket
No, not the actual game. That is upto you. I would like to show you what the US Congress is doing to mismanagement of baseball. The underlying reasons to do so are the same - they fear that baseball players, serving as role models for young kids are serving as bad examples!
What example do you think Ganguly set for India? Or that matter, the BCCI? The indecisiveness is rudely shocking. It is also, almost resounding proof that a "miracle" is needed to induce professionalism into Indian sports.

So what if the government has to interfere? The BCCI is doing a bad job as it is. And being a free society doesn't mean, people get the right to act like asses.
It also goes to show that using bad quality retired players in an organization that is supposed to alter the way the game is played in our country is not working.

thanks yamanoor...for posting on bhatia. I will do a follow-up post on it. I was studying in my engg those days when bhatia was the commissioner of pune for hardly a week. The politicians did not want him and they did everything to oust him. But it was heartening to see that pune citizens took the matter to the court via a PIL. And kudos to Indian Express for the initiative.
Oh damn me. The previous comment was meant for the arun bhatia post. Really sorry.
Yeah...BCCI is and has been doing a horrible job. I too have to write on that.
Indeed, the point of major sports players serving as a role model to the kids of the country, is quite right. Say for example, Gavaskar, Ravi Shastri, Kris Srikanth. But the pity of Ganguly is that he has been a mock for all in the country teasing him for imaginative but not true ads, eg 2 minute noodles ad, cellphone company saying that Our tariff lesser than what he scores and pulse more that the time he stays in the ground. What happened to Azhar and Jadeja?? They indeed did the same thing, note playing well in consecutive matches and they got caught in match fixing etc etc etc. Will that be the case of Ganguly toooo???. When is the BCCI going to take rigorous action into the matter. Some good players, like Robin singh were denied chance becoz they played one or two matches badly . And giving them a chance when they are about to retire from the sport is not going to help either the team or the players. The behaviour like this by the sports authorities has brought good sportsmen to the brink of extinction. At least, it should wake up or never!!!!
